Alisson Becker Religion
Alisson Becker is a Brazilian professional footballer who is a devout Christian. He is a Pentecostal Christian. Alisson Becker is a goalkeeper for Liverpool as well as Brazil’s national team. Alisson is considered to be one of the world’s best goalkeepers. He joined Internacional Football Club when he was 10 years old, and he began his senior career with the club in 2013 before moving to AS Roma three years later. In 2018, Alisson signed a £66.8 million (€72.5 million) transfer deal with Liverpool, which broke the world record at the time for the most expensive goalkeeper transfer in football history. Mamardashvili was born on September 29, 2000, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and he serves as the second-choice goalkeeper for Liverpool. He is the son of former WIT Georgia and Torpedo Kutaisi goalkeeper Davit Mamardashvili. In 2012, Mamardashvili began his youth career with Dinamo Tbilisi. He then advanced rapidly through Dinamo’s youth ranks and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2018 and was loaned to both FC Rustavi and Locomotive Tbilisi for three seasons before his transfer to Valencia. Freddie Woodman Religion
Frederick John Woodman is an English professional who has not made his personal religious beliefs public, and there are no official records or interviews indicating what his religion is. Woodman was born on 4 March 1997 in Croydon, South London, and joined the Crystal Palace academy at the age of 14. He has built a reputation on numerous loan spells during his time at Newcastle United across the lower tiers of English football and Scotland, including Hartlepool United (2015), Crawley Town (2015), Kilmarnock (2017), Aberdeen (2018), Swansea City (2019–2021), and Bournemouth (2022). After these loans, he signed permanently with Preston North End and then moved to Liverpool on a free transfer in June 2025.
Woodman has represented England across U16 to U21 levels. He won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup with England and was awarded a Golden Glove for best goalkeeper in the latter tournament. He is the son of Bromley manager Andy Woodman and the godson of former England boss Gareth Southgate.
Joe Gomez Religion
Joseph Dave Gomez is an English professional footballer who is a devout Christian. Gomez was born on 23 May 1997 in Catford, Greater London, to a Gambian father, Augustus Gomez, and an English mother. He also has three sisters and one brother, including a set of younger identical twin siblings. When Gomez was ten years old, he began playing on the youth team of Charlton Athletic and made his debut for the club’s U-18 team when he turned 13. At the age of 17, he broke into the first team and played one full season before joining Liverpool in June 2015.
Liverpool secured his signature for a £3.5 million transfer fee, and he was part of the squad that won the 2019 UEFA Champions League and the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup. Additionally, Gomez won the 2019–20 and 2024–25 Premier League with Liverpool. With Liverpool, he has won a total of nine official trophies.

Virgil van Dijk Religion
Virgil van Dijk is a Dutch professional footballer who is a devout Christian. Van Dijk was born on July 8, 1991, in Breda, Netherlands, to a Dutch father, Ron van Dijk, and an Afro-Surinamese mother, Hellen Chin Fo Sieeuw. He is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation and one of the greatest defenders in Premier League history. He serves as the captain for both Premier League club Liverpool and the Netherlands national team. Van Dijk played in various positions early on, including striker and midfielder, but eventually settled as a center-back in 2008 at age 17 after growing about 18 centimeters in height.
Van Dijk started his football career at the local amateur club WDS’19 before joining the youth academy of Willem II Tilburg. His professional career took place at Groningen before he moved to Scotland to join Celtic. At Celtic, he won the Scottish Premiership and was named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year in both of his seasons with the club and won the Scottish League Cup in the second. In September 2015, Southampton came calling, and he was signed for £13 million before moving ahead to break records as the most expensive defender in football history when Liverpool signed him for £75 million. In June 2018, he was appointed captain of the Netherlands national team, and one year later, he was named Liverpool captain after replacing Jordan Henderson.
Virgil van Dijk signed a two-year contract extension with Liverpool until June 2027. Under this agreement, he earns a weekly wage of £350,000, amounting to an annual salary of £18.2 million. He is the highest-paid player in Liverpool and the highest-paid defender in Europe.
With Liverpool, Van Dijk reached back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019, winning the latter. His personal achievements include winning the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award in 2019, making him the first and only defender to win the honor since its inception. Milos Kerkez was born on November 6, 2003, in Vrbas, a town in northern Serbia. He grew up in Vrbas and played football locally for OFK Vrbas as a child. When he was 10, in 2014, he moved with his family to Austria to join Rapid Wien’s youth academy and played there until 2019.
Kerkez holds dual citizenship. While born and raised in Serbia, his grandmother’s Hungarian heritage allowed him to be eligible to represent Hungary on the international stage. He is a multilingual athlete, speaking Serbian, Hungarian, German, English, and some Italian.
Kerkez has played for numerous clubs before his £40 million move to Liverpool in June 2025. Among the clubs are Győri ETO (2019–2021), AC Milan (2021–2022), AZ Alkmaar (2022–2023), and AFC Bournemouth (2023–2025).

Conor Bradley Religion
Conor Bradley is a Northern Irish professional footballer who is a Roman Catholic. His father’s funeral in 2024 was held at St. Patrick’s Church in Aghyaran. Bradley was born on 9 July 2003 in Castlederg, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and he plays as a right-back for Liverpool and serves as the captain of the Northern Ireland national team. Bradley was educated at the Christian Brothers Grammar School in Omagh. His father, Joe Bradley, tragically passed away in February 2024 at home in Killen, County Tyrone, following a period of ill health.
Bradley began his youth career playing for his hometown club, St. Patrick’s F.C. He went on to play for Dungannon United Youth, and in late 2019, he officially joined Liverpool’s U18 side from Dungannon United as part of their Northern Ireland development center. The following year, he signed his first professional contract with Liverpool. Giovanni Leoni Religion
Giovanni Leoni is an Italian professional footballer who has not publicly identified with any specific religion. Leoni was born on 21 December 2006 in Rome, Italy. He began playing football with local Venetian side Vigontina San Paolo. He later moved into the youth academy of Cittadella before completing his youth development at Calcio Padova.
After his senior and professional debut with Padova, he subsequently played for the Italian sides Sampdoria and Parma before his £26 million move to Liverpool in late 2025. His contract with Liverpool runs until June 2031. On his debut season, Leoni suffered an ACL tear in the 80th minute of an EFL Cup game against Southampton and has since been sidelined. This means Leoni only recorded one appearance for Liverpool since he was signed to the club.
Jeremie Frimpong Religion
Jeremie Agyekum Frimpong is a Dutch professional footballer who is a devout Christian. Frimpong was born on December 10, 2000, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Ghanaian parents. He is the fifth child out of seven siblings. When he was nine years old, he joined Manchester City’s youth academy, though he previously played for local grassroots teams AFC Clayton and Clayton Villa. In September 2019, Scottish Premiership club Celtic acquired Frimpong from Manchester City for a fee around €500,000. During his time with Celtic, he helped the club secure a domestic treble, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup.
After spending two years with Celtic, Frimpong signed a four-and-a-half-year deal for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, and in the summer of 2025, Liverpool triggered his £29.5 million release clause to bring him back to England.
Frimpong was eligible to play for three national teams, the Netherlands, Ghana, and England, but he later chose to represent the Netherlands.
Florian Wirtz Religion
Florian Richard Wirtz is a German professional footballer who is a practicing Christian, though he is not known to be publicly vocal about his specific religious beliefs. Wirtz was born on 3 May 2003 in the Brauweiler district of Pulheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, and he plays as an attacking midfielder or left midfielder for Liverpool and the Germany national team. Wirtz has nine siblings, four brothers and five sisters. He relies on his parents, Hans-Joachim (Hans) and Karin, to act as his agents and negotiate his contracts.
Wirtz played youth football with his local club SV Grün-Weiß Brauweiler as well as with the youth teams of FC Köln and Bayer Leverkusen. In the summer of 2025, Wirtz joined Liverpool on a long-term contract for a club-record £116 million fee. Dominik Szoboszlai Religion
Dominik Szoboszlai is a Hungarian professional footballer who is a practicing Christian. Szoboszlai was born on October 25, 2000, in Szekesfehervar, Hungary. He is the son of former footballer Zsolt Szoboszlai. Szoboszlai kickstarts his career at the youth level with Fehervar in 2006 before playing for several Hungarian clubs. He made his senior debut in 2017 with Austrian club FC Liefering, the reserve team of Red Bull Salzburg. He spent three years with Salzburg, winning three Austrian Bundesliga titles and two Austrian Cups, and was named the Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2019–20.
In January 2021, he moved to sister club RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga for a reported €20 million, making him the most expensive Hungarian player in history. In July 2023, he signed a £60 million contract with Liverpool, the club’s fourth-most expensive signing of all time. With Liverpool, he has won the Premier League and the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup), building on a highly successful career where he also captured four Austrian Bundesliga titles, three Austrian Cups, and two German Cups (DFB-Pokal). Additionally, Szoboszlai represented Hungary on the grand international stage, captaining his country at UEFA Euro 2024 as the youngest skipper in the tournament’s history.
Away from football, Szoboszlai donated to the charity Cseppkő Gyermekotthoni Központ along with Ádám Szalai. He has also supported other charitable causes. In 2023, he donated a shirt to the foundation that helped to raise money for the family of the late Csaba Ponczok, former player of Maglódi TC, who died in 2022.
In March of 2025, Szoboszlai married Borka Buzsik in Budapest. Buzsik is a PR manager for the Hungarian company Toman Diet. Together, they welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in August 2025.
Alexis Mac Allister Religion
Alexis Mac Allister is an Argentine professional footballer who is a devout Roman Catholic. Mac Allister was born on 24 December 1998 in Santa Rosa, La Pampa. His father, Carlos Mac Allister, was a professional footballer who played alongside Diego Maradona at Boca Juniors and for Argentina. Both his older brothers and his cousin are footballers.
Mac Allister plays as a midfielder for Liverpool and the Argentina national team. He is considered one of the world’s best central midfielders. Allister spent his youth career with Social y Deportivo Parque and Argentinos Juniors (2011–2016), and he began his senior career with Argentinos Juniors in 2016. In 2019, he entered into a four-and-a-half-year deal with English club Brighton and was loaned back to Argentinos Juniors for the remainder of that season. Mac Allister then returned to Brighton to help the club finish 6th in the Premier League, securing their first-ever ticket to the UEFA Europa League.
In 2023, he joined Liverpool, signing a contract that was reportedly worth £35 million. As of this writing, Mac Allister has won one Premier League title and one Carabao Cup with Liverpool, and he helped the club reach the later stages of the UEFA Champions League. He has also played for Argentina’s national team in the FIFA World Cup (2022 and 2026) and Copa América (2024) and was a vital member of the squad that secured the 2022 World Cup trophy in Qatar. Curtis Jones Religion
Curtis Julian Jones is an English professional footballer who identifies as Christian. Jones was born on 30 January 2001 in Liverpool, Merseyside. He is of English and Nigerian descent, which means he is eligible to represent Nigeria internationally before making his competitive senior debut for England.
Jones attended St. Vincent de Paul Primary School in Liverpool city center before joining Liverpool Academy in 2010. Subsequently, Jones signed his first professional contract with Liverpool on 1 February 2018 after spending eight years playing for the youth team. With Liverpool, he has won two Premier League titles (2019–20, 2024–25), one FA Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, and two EFL Cups (2021–22, 2023–24). Harvey Elliott Religion
Harvey Daniel James Elliott is an English professional footballer who is a Christian. Elliott plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier League club Aston Villa, on loan from Liverpool. He will be returning to Liverpool ahead of pre-season following a disastrous, single-season loan spell at Aston Villa. Villa avoided featuring him in their lineups to avoid hitting a 10-match threshold that would have forced them to buy him permanently for £35 million.
Elliott spent his youth career with Queens Park Rangers and Fulham, and he began his senior career with Fulham in 2018. He spent one year before Liverpool signed him in July 2019. He went on to secure trophies with the senior squad, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and multiple Carabao Cups. Elliott was then loaned out to Blackburn Rovers (2020–2021) and Aston Villa (2025).
In other things, he is a fan of the NBA, supporting the Boston Celtics. He also considers Mohamed Salah to be a friend and mentor, with the Egyptian forward guiding him during the 2021–22 season and advising him on his diet and exercise regimen.
Ryan Gravenberch Religion
Ryan Jiro Gravenberch is a Dutch professional footballer who is believed to be a Christian. In a 2020 interview while playing for Ajax, Gravenberch said: “I believe in God. I believe that I received my talent from God. I always pray before the match. Just asking for strength, and then everything will be fine,” as reported by Ajax Showtime.
Gravenberch began his youth career with Ajax. He then progressed through the youth team and made his senior debut, becoming the club’s youngest-ever Eredivisie player. Alexander Isak Religion
Alexander Isak is a Swedish professional footballer who practices the Muslim faith. Isak was born on 21 September 1999 in Solna, Sweden. He is of Eritrean descent from the Tigrinya ethnic group. When Isak was six years old, he began playing for the youth team of one of the largest clubs in the Allsvenskan, AIK. Ten years later, in February 2016, he made his first-team debut and became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer. He then moved to Borussia Dortmund, had a loan spell at Willem II, and made his name at Real Sociedad as one of La Liga’s most dangerous forwards. In 2022, he joined Newcastle United in a club-record move, and in 2025 he signed for Liverpool for £125 million, breaking both the club and British transfer fee records, where he now plays as a forward.
Alexander Isak is currently under a contract that reportedly runs until June 2031. According to various sources, his base pay at Liverpool stood around £300,000 per week and about £15.6 million per year. On his debut season, he has scored a total of four goals for Liverpool across all competitions.
Isak is the youngest-ever goalscorer for both AIK and the Sweden national team, having registered 1 goal and 3 assists in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Sweden.
Federico Chiesa Religion
Federico Chiesa is an Italian professional footballer who is a devout Roman Catholic. Chiesa was born on October 25, 1997, in Genoa, Italy. He is the son of former Italian striker Enrico Chiesa. Chiesa was educated at the International School of Florence, where he studied English.
Chiesa began his youth career at Settignanese before moving into the Fiorentina Youth Academy. Nine years later, in 2016, he made his first-team debut. He then made a move to Juventus initially on a loan that became a permanent transfer. Cody Mathès Gakpo is a Dutch professional footballer who is a devoted Pentecostal Christian. He famously celebrated a decisive goal by removing his jersey to reveal an undershirt that read “I belong to Jesus,” paying tribute to Brazilian footballer Kaká. Gakpo plays as a left winger or center forward for Liverpool and the Netherlands national team. He is a product of the PSV youth academy.
Gakpo was born on 7 May 1999 in Eindhoven, Netherlands, to Dutch mother Ank and Togolese father Johnny. In early 2023, Gakpo agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool for a transfer fee of between £35.4 and £44.3 million. With Liverpool, he has won the Premier League title (2024–25) and the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup). In a Liverpool media feature released ahead of Ramadan in 2026, Ekitike introduced himself by saying, “I am Hugo Ekitike and I am Muslim.” Ekitike was born on 20 June 2002 in Reims, Marne, France, to a Cameroonian father and a French mother.
Ekitike started playing at a young age with Cormontreuil FC and later joined the youth academy of Stade de Reims in 2013. Two years later, he was called up to the senior squad of Reims in 2020 and made his Ligue 1 debut later that year. He went on loan to Vejle Boldklub in Denmark in 2021, then moved to Paris Saint-Germain, first on loan and later signed permanently for €28.5 million. After that, he was sent on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt before joining the club on a permanent basis in April 2024 for €16.5 million.
From Frankfurt, Ekitike was signed by Liverpool on a six-year contract for a reported fee of €80 million. Since then, he has made 45 appearances and scored 17 goals before a severe Achilles injury halted his season.
Ekitike chose France over Cameroon and played for the France U20 and U21 sides. He also featured in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2022, which France won. Additionally, Ekitike received his first senior call-up in 2025 and made his debut during a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Rio Ngumoha Religion
Rio Chima Ngumoha is an English professional footballer who is a Christian. Ngumoha was born on August 29, 2008, in London, England, to a Nigerian father and Guadeloupean mother. He holds dual Nigerian and French citizenship through his parents, alongside his native British nationality. Ngumoha played youth football with the youth teams of Chelsea and Liverpool before he was called-up to train with the Liverpool first team squad by manager Arne Slot.
Ngumoha made his senior Liverpool debut on January 11, 2025, in an FA Cup match against Accrington Stanley. Later that year, on August 25, 2025, he scored a 100th-minute winner against Newcastle United, cementing his status as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer at 16 years and 361 days. While eligible to play for Nigeria or France, Ngumoha has chosen to represent England internationally. On June 6, 2026, he made his senior international debut for the England national team under Thomas Tuchel during a 1–0 friendly match against New Zealand.
Víctor Muñoz Religion
Víctor Muñoz Villanueva is a Spanish professional footballer who is a Christian. Víctor Muñoz was born on 13 July 2003 in Barcelona, Spain, and he plays as a left winger or forward for Liverpool and the Spain national team. Muñoz began playing football at the youth academy of CE Sant Gabriel and then at Barcelona around age 11. He stayed at Barça’s academy for several years before leaving in 2017 and continuing his development at CF Damm. That path gave him a strong Catalan football foundation before he made the leap to Real Madrid in 2021. At Real Madrid, Muñoz first played for the youth teams and then moved up to Real Madrid Castilla. He made his Castilla debut in August 2023 and became a regular in the reserve side, scoring 11 goals in 34 matches in the 2024-25 season. His progression earned him a first-team debut for Real Madrid in May 2025 against Barcelona in El Clásico. Shortly after, he signed for Osasuna for a transfer fee of €5 million on a long-term deal running to 2030.
On 18 June 2026, Liverpool signed 22-year-old Víctor Muñoz from La Liga side Osasuna on a £35 million deal. He signed a six-year contract valid until June 2032. He will join Premier League club Liverpool on 1 July 2026.
